Whatever You Want (Kokayi Danladi)

about

I'm thinking about all those who came before that make this all possible. This song is near to my heart, just as my big bro Kokayi (it's writer, and orginal artist) is. He transitioned from this earthly realm in 2016, just before he would have seen his 30th birthday. This song is His story. Listen well, and enjoy the ride.

lyrics

Whatever You Want by Kokayi Danladi

Life is a blessing
Life ain't fair
It flows in each direction, like a knife right here
Dreams ain’t distant but they don’t seem near
So the first thing that you gotta do is face your own fear
I know the world got you down a lot
I’m feeling you when down and out
You just gotta know this ain’t your final spot
Pined about a life without struggle
A life without pain
A life without muscle
A life without strain
Starting to feel like life is like the diamond and the chain
Or like the cool transition from the soil to the flame
From the flame it emerged to the fire once again
To be placed on the head
Of a crown,
Of a King
And human beings do the same (it’s to blame)
We begin to feel the pain of the flame as we change
Rearrange, and Transition
Sending this transmission
This is just food for thought I brought to the damn kitchen
(so you could have)

Whatever You Want
I’m be on my way
Whatever you want
All the dreams you threw away
For your baby boy (hold on)
I’m on my way
Whatever you want…

The world is yours, the planet is mine
It’s hard to see the light when the Sun don’t shine
The ties are tied for ghetto children who dies
Over the frivolous crimes
And I remember the time when life seemed so bad
I didn’t have my dad
But I did have that gun that he done hid in the bag
That boy tried to run but he still got stung
Up in his back with the mag
My mom had Ten kids that she done give, that she had
My boy did that bid, and then read that Book
Delivered him to the truth
He told me spit in the booth
We’re all descendants of Kings
Before the Lord of the Rings
Or the Range
Or the watch, or the chain
And human beings do the same (it’s to blame)
We begin to feel the pain of the flame as we change
Rearrange and transition
Sending this transmission
This is just food for Thought that I brought to the damn kitchen
(So you could have)

Whatever you want
I’ll be on my way
Whatever you want
All the dreams you threw away
For your baby boy (hold on)
I’m on my way
Whatever you want…

Detroit city, Kokayi was spawned in the obstacle
In the heart of the winter when weather was like a popsicle
Don’t nobody see shit, and ain’t never give the cops a call
Five-oh be poppin y'all
Death before dishonor falls!
Real brothers get silent when their honor calls
Snitches get a slug in a replacement of a tylenol
Traps for young black men weighing in vagina walls
My n*ggas roll a blunt and read a copy of the Final Call
All on the same block
Chopped from the same stock
Shot by the same cops
Didn’t slavery end? Man, damn!
When will the rain stop?
Popping on my brain, about to go insane
I cop another brain, so that I won’t be afraid to do the same
And it’s to blame
We begin to feel the pain of the flame as we change
Rearrange, and Transition
This is just food for thought that I brought to the damn kitchen
So You could Have

Whatever you Want
I’ll be on my way
Whatever you want
All the dreams you threw away
For your baby boy
Hold on
I’ll be on my way
Whatever you want.
